Origin: Eastern Australia
Environment: tropical and temperate rainforests; preferably in full sun
Climate: warm, temperate; cold-resistant only when adult
Notes:Also known as Kurrajong (Indigenous Australian name), this tree natively grows in the tropical regions of the East Coast of Australia. It’s gorgeous red blooming, however, made it popular as urban decoration species throughout the temperate areas of the world. When adult, in fact, it can resist also in climates with cold winters. The flowering, however, is abundant only in areas where the winters are dry. When planted outside it’s natural environment, this tree only reaches half of it’s potential height.
